how was it?
describe struggles and such

me. its very hard....takes a lot of effort, but it begins with the basics so i mean you're still learning everything u wouldve learned in a freshman class but its just that most people already know it and you don't.

I had a very mediocre Biology class, pretty much a full year of no learning, but I caught up to AP Bio quite quickly.

The hardest part about AP Bio is that when you first crack open the book, you are sooo overwhelmed by all of the information that you see, and you end up failing because you have no idea how to digest any of that.

If you have the Campbell book, the one with the fern on it, the first thing that you could do is read the "Tips" section before the first chapter. It explains all the study tips you can use in order to be a successful student - very very useful.

When it comes to memorizing, try to make really kooky metaphors or acronyms, or relate things that you know very well to the biology concepts that you don't know quite so well. One time, I got really obsessed over the Fungi chapter and set the class curve, because I liked to eat a lot of mushrooms...

When you have the basic pieces of information memorized, try to relate the entire chapter's information all together in some sort of process/cycle/ring/whatever. "Glucose is made of ____ which is used in the _____ process, which helps to form these products which are used for...." It just goes on and on and on, especially for the body systems unit.

If it's like physics then no you don't need it

My story was like Serafina's. I had Honors Bio in freshman year, but the most we ever covered was the structure of DNA. The teacher left early, so we were stuck with a mediocre permanent sub who liked to talk more about Jessica Simpson than the tricarboxylic acid cycle.

That said, I came into my AP Bio class expecting it to be slightly harder. I was knocked off my feet when I opened my textbook. The new AP Bio teacher looked at me like I was from some other planet. He was shocked I didn't know the structure of ribosomes or Punnett squares involving anything other than a sex-linked cross.

Now, I've got a 98 in Bio. The secret? It's my #1 devotion of time. I spend about 7 hours a week reading the textbook, sometimes to learn new material and sometimes to reinforce what I learned earlier. If you've got the self-discipline, it's entirely possible to pass AP Bio and even earn a 5, even without taking Bio before.

yeah, i took it as a freshman
it was eye opening, and it prepared me for the rest of the APs i would take.
It's a good experience to have to work extremely hard; there is so much material to cover.
i did well, got a 4
