WOW full tuition…great teacher…HMMM

ABBeachMom,

If it were me, I would definitely tell my child to opt for SUNY at Buffalo. He can always transfer to UNM next year if Buffalo turns out not-so-hot. What is the down side?

As for the Frost professor suddenly leaving - this would leave me immensely outraged. 2 major (as in, world-wide recognized) cello professors had no qualms informing me, a total nobody with a H.S. junior daughter who was making arrangements for practice-lessons, 12 months ago that they were almost certainly going to be moving schools by the time my daughter started college. This information was not public knowledge at the time, but it was important for her and me to know. We did not spread the word beyond discussing it with her regular teacher. People almost always know at least a year ahead of time that they will be leaving - no excuse to blindside newly admitted students and parents with this ‘news’.

How is your S taking this?

I would be very concerned about enrolling at Frost to study with “a player to be named later.” The SUNY Buffalo offer is very attractive…Buffalo is a fine school and the Honors option is fantastic.

Think what fun your family will have singing “Shuffle Off to Buffalo” all summer!"

LOL…I would be singing Shuffle Off to Buffalo as well!!!
