@Nechronix Yeah, that would be fine. I contacted the Math and Statistics departments and asked if I could change into a major in their department. Hopefully they contact me soon.

@Nechronix The Math department contacted me back today. This is what they told me:

"We usually do not accept change of majors from transfer students because there is an understanding that the student is going to finish in the degree he or she has worked towards for the past two years and will continue to work towards the degree in which they got accepted as.
Having said that, it is not to say that we will not look at your application to change your major. We take other things into consideration (i.e., how many units you have left, how far you have progressed through the major major, etc.).

Each major will have a pre-major where students can petition for it as long as they are in good academic standing and will not go over their unit max. The minimum requirements to change into a math major is: “C”
or better in all the math preparation courses, and “C” or econ preparation courses if the major requires it, but a 2.5 or higher GPA."

I don’t really know what to think. I am not sure if she said that because they don’t usually accept transfer students that didn’t apply to the math department , or if they are just saying this to discourage people from trying to change their major. I can understand this position. I guess UCLA is trying to stop less qualified students from obtaining majors that would have caused them to get rejected if they applied to UCLA under them. In other words, maybe they are trying to stop back door admissions.
