Has your high school made any great changes? If so, what were they?

Even before my son started high school last year, I got involved in several local initiatives ... to change the early start time (currently 7:30), to weight honors and AP classes (all grades are currently unweighted), to reduce class size (30+ in many), and to evaluate the homework policy (lots of talk of unnecessary stress but no action).

So here's my question:

Has your high school made helpful changes in these areas ... or in ANY other areas ... that you really like? If so, please explain.

Great job!

Well, at my school, it used to be that you could only miss 5 unexcused days a 9-weeks, and only doctors notes made it excused, but now, if you have any note at all (parents, etc) then it
s considered excused. Everyone
s really happy about that because if you got 6 or more unexcused absence days, you had to attend Saturday School.

Maybe not such a hardship. Did you ever see The Breakfast Club? ;)
