I'll be graduating from a CC in Florida with my AA in the spring of 2007. I'd be looking to transfer for the fall. I'm thinking anthropology major and there aren't that many courses to choose from pertaining to that at the CC. I've taken the english and quite a bit of math. I'm holding off on taking science courses though because if I want to go to med school then I'll need to take those at a four year school. My GPA is about a 3.8 (nothing great but not bad) EC's are member of PTK, I work, volunteer, and helped start up an animal rescue (pretty generic). What do you think could I get in?

pretty please.. Anybody.. and please be honest.

yes,

why don't you apply ED?

As a transfer I don't think you can. When you go to fill out the application for the fall it says that it's not ready yet.

Anybody else think I can get in? Or not get in? Thanks

I think you have a good chance...especially as an anthropology major.

I'll also be graduating through the honors scholar program they have here, if it matters much.

Yes, I think it does matter. Keep up the good grades! Good luck!

Thank you.

Does the choice of major matter in the decision? (you mentioned anthropology)

Some majors are limited.

Yeah I have a strong interest in attending medical school but I also have a strong interest in anthro and history. Some majors are limited access, and all majors carry different GPA requirements.

What if my GPA was only around 3.5 and still graduated through the honors program. Would I still have a strong chance to get into anthropology?

I'm starting to have some doubts. I've talked with a lot of kids and they the general consensus seems to be that U of F is extremely overloaded with transfer kids and are really cutting down on their admissions. As I review things I'll probably graduate with a 3.5-3.8 like I said member of Phi Theta Kappa and enrolled in the honors scholar program. Is there anything else that can be beneficial to help? Thanks again.

Also the transfer site states that you can apply up to a year in advance it doesn't however state when you'll hear a response. Does anyone know if you apply early that you'll hear early?

...bump...

...bump.. please

Anybody else have any info or advice especially for the last few entries? Thanks so much.

I'm pretty sure UF has deadlines for transfer students with published dates for their decisions. You have a good GPA in an honors program. I think your chances are pretty good....but UF is becoming so difficult to get into. It is a numbers game. Please have Plan B.
