Have any Fall 2014 transfers gotten a decision yet?

Gonna apply to UMASS. ASAP… Cannot wait sooooo long and be denied? This is getting ridiculous already! Come on Binghamton April 8th already.

Deadline for UMASS application is April 15 th

@ddoton. I think that’s a good idea to have a back up plan. JUST in case.
I feel REALLY bad for you! I think you applied way back in January? I only have hope
that we will all still be accepted, as my son was JUST requested to turn in his midterm grades on 3/1.
He sent them in on 3/4.
I don’t think they would be that cruel to ask this late, if they had no intentions of looking at him.
But, you never know.
I did research. 4785 transferred applied, and they take like 1800. Soooooo…

I was talking to a mother on another forum, and her daughter found out today that she was accepted!
Anybody here hear? Good news acceptance letters are still going out!!

Nothing here.

@ dodotjon@ tgenovajr
Found out last night that my son was accepted!
We received no email or packet but, my son was able to log into here
<a href=“Binghamton University/QuikPAY® Login”>https://secure.binghamton.edu/newadmit/loginform.jsp</a> like the other
person mentioned.
That seems like the place to get your decision.
I hope you two can log in there soon!!

Congratulations! That’s great! Still cannot log in here, so no answer for my son yet!

Thank you! I think with the rolling acceptance, they just keep letting people know
day by day. They can sleep at night! Please let me know. I’m rubbing Buddha’s belly for you!
Did you apply to Umass yet?

Thanks, and he will do the Umass before tomorrow. I am expecting a denial from Bing at this point. Was not asked for spring grades, and he applied in January, so not feeling too confident. I think denials get mailed, so I am thinking that’s why it is taking so long. I would just like to know either way at this point! He is engineering, what about your son?

To be honest, I was going to give up too. My sons gf applied, and hasn’t heard back either. She applied before him. She wants the nursing progam. I really think they go Eeny, meeny, miny, moe to look at applications.
He is a business major. The other guy on here is an Engineering major too. He is also waiting to hear.
He has all A’s and just got into Stony Brook. So maybe they go by majors?

Congrats on Stony Brook! Did you visit there by chance? I considered there as well, but I was told the atmosphere isn’t very welcoming. I was just curious if that was true.

@ billberryish tgenovajr is the guy that got into Stony Brook. My son decided not to go there, but to Binghamton.
We did visit Stony. I thought it was the same as any campus. The open house was welcoming.
I do think it has much more of a ‘city’ feel then Bing. The nice thing about Stony, if you love NYC, it’s just a train ride away.
Not as much to do in Bing. But, there are shops/coffee houses etc. Not familiar with party scene. BUT, do have a nephew that goes there. I’m sure he would share. We live an hour from Bing, and spend a lot of time shopping there, so if you have any questions I would be happy to answer.

You got accepted to Bing, right? Someone said there was an accepted Transfer open house tomorrow.
Did you hear about that?

@Erika9890 My apologies! Apparently I am illiterate, I shouldn’t post until I’ve had my coffee. I was shockingly accepted. I live in Buffalo and I will be hauling my parents out to the open house tomorrow haha. I visited Binghamton in the summer and it was beautiful. Living in the middle of nowhere, I was excited to see how many businesses are around Vestal. I’ve heard many students say there isn’t much to do in Binghamton, but I think many are just used to New York City. One thing that swayed me to Binghamton was the focus our tour guide put on academics. I’m not sure how true it was, but she told us that Binghamton doesn’t have much of a party scene, which I am perfectly okay with =). I wish your son lots of luck! I think I read that you could log into the Quikpay function? In that case I’d bet he has been accepted. Besides myself, I’ve talked to others who have found they were able to log into Quikpay and then received the letter a couple days later. My status checker never changed, and I never received an acceptance email like they said, but I logged into that site and received my letter the next week. Good Luck!

@tgenovajr Congrats on getting into Stony Brook! =)

Congrats @Erika9890 that’s awesome! I’m so glad you and your son can rest at ease! I haven’t heard back from Binghamton yet and I applied to the Engineering school as well so I think they may be backed up with Engineering applicants.

@billberryish thank you! Congrats on getting into Bing!

@ddotjon has your son heard back from Stony? I’m pretty confident that he will get into Bing, like I said they’re most likely backed up with Engineering applicants. When I spoke to Stony before getting my decision the woman said my application was “in the engineering box” so I think different majors hear back at different times.

@ Billberryish. I hear ya when it comes to coffee!

My nephew isn’t much into parties either but, he has said there are parties if you want to go.
I think it’s like a lot of colleges. You can either participate or not. There’s no pressure.

Yes, we actually logged in and paid. You NEVER got an Email at all about acceptance?
You were just able to log into quick pay and you knew? Did you pay right away or wait for the
letter of acceptance?
I think that’s pretty irresponsible to make people wait this long!
If it wasn’t for this forum, we never would have known the quickpay function. We would still be waiting.

Have fun at the open house tomorrow. Please report back and tell me what you think.
Thanks!

@ tgenovajr Thank you!

tgenovajr…No he hasn’t heard from Bing or Stony…but he applied like two days before the deadline to Stony, so I I don’t expect to hear anything soon, but did apply to Bing in January. Would prefer Bing, but applied last minute to Stony Brook cause he hasn’t heard from Bing yet.

Now he will apply to UMASS ASAP because he hasn’t been accepted anywhere yet, and has to go somewhere in Fall 2014, because he left Hofstra this semester, and is at NCC this semester, and really can’t continue there cause he is done with his GEN EDS and lower level classes.

UMASS will be expensive OOS, but if he has to go there, he will.

ddotjon,

Did you apply to Manhattan College? How about University of Rhode Island? URI would run about $26,000 with out of state scholarship.

Hi Adamsley…no he didn’t apply to Manhattan…I suggested it and it was not for him…URI? Never considered it…I was hoping to hear from Bing, which is where he wants to go, or Stony Brook, not his first choice, but he would go there. Since we haven’t heard back yet from either, I am getting worried so he is applying to UMASS today, because they have guaranteed on campus housing for transfers, which a lot of schools do not offer. And he is engineering, so any of those 3 would suit him fine. Maybe he will hear today? Hoping so.

I got an email two days ago and this is what it said:

Dear (my name),

Congratulations on your admission to Harpur College of Arts and Sciences, the intellectual heart of Binghamton.

As a Harpur student, you’ll have the opportunity to be involved in research in just about any discipline. In fact, there’s an entire office dedicated to make sure opportunities abound.

Anybody else received an email like this?
