Have I ruined my chances at Stanford?

I just completed my freshman year in High School and I have an Unweighted GPA of 3.64 :(. my weighted is about a 4.5. Do I have enough time to pull it up or am I already doomed?

I'm a low income African American Female if that helps at all

Do not give up! I got a 3.5 first semester (but a 4.0 second semester) so I dont know what My unweighted GPA is. I am going into my sophomore year and I jumped 5 points because I didn’t give up. I won’t listen to anyone who says I can’t get into Stanford and you shouldn’t either

Stanford does not take into account freshman year grades when calculating GPA. Work hard your next 3 years and pull that GPA up.

You’re an incoming sophomore. You have time to pull them up. Don’t stress out about it so early.

You certainly haven’t “ruined” you chances at Stanford. All colleges (not just Stanford) like to see improvement, so you should definitely work as hard as you possibly can to get the best grades in the future.

More important than your GPA is your class rank. By the time senior year rolls around, you’ll want to be in the top 10% of your class in order to be a competitive applicant.

How is it possible to have a 3.64 unweighted but a 4.5 weighted?

Yep, Good News! Stanford doesn’t count frosh year.

@s07421

7 classes, 6 of which are weighted +1.00

being low income + african american helps immensely.

oops! 4.2 weighted sorry!

Was just there last week (I’m going to be a senior), and one of the actual admission officers gave a lecture to us, and they totally omit your freshman year grades, so nothing to worry about there, they don’t even see them!
