**Oh, and I have a letter of rec question!! does it make any difference if the teacher is new vs experienced? Like, with only a few years of teaching? I am pretty sure I can get a great recommendation from a teacher, but she’s on the new-ish side.
Will also probably get a good letter of rec from the dean of pediatrics at the hospital/university I volunteer at...

Thanks. I mean I would really love to go to an Ivy, but I know there are A LOT more qualified people than me (especially on this site... looking at everyone's stuff scares me). So, I don't know where I really have a chance. Should I just stay in-state and go to U of Michigan? I don't know.. what would you say some possible schools I should start considering are??

Also, recommendations of what I should start doing to make my application look better would be nice x_x THANKS AGAIN :]

edit: okay, i made a "list" to make things easier...
Princeton
Caltech
Yale
Cornell
UPenn
Northwestern
UMich
Wash U (med program?)

don't laugh :x

um oh and add Duke to the list

If you go to a top private school, you should get in to at least one of HYPSM.

If you go to a public school...things get trickier, but you are not out of range. See, when you see the list of everyone's accomplishments, keep in mind that colleges care about the person, not what you have done. Your ECs are all stuff you LOVE to do. They are not resume fillers. Colleges will get that, especially if your personal essays are strong and show your voice well. Apply early to Princeton. They famously accept around 30% of early applicants. Also, apply to as many EA programs as you can (not Harvard, Yale or Stanford, and not to any other ED programs, mind you.) U Chicago, Rice, Georgetown and U Michigan are all good choices to apply early to.

Actually, now that I read you are not super competitive, and that you want to do medicine, apply early to Duke. They accepted 37% early last year, and Duke's medical program is one of the top programs in the country (higher than Princeton.) Duke is significantly less competitive than Princeton. You'd probably be happier.

You would be accepted at U Chicago and Johns Hopkins (as well as a lot of the schools you listed), and they are both good for premed, but have a competitive atmosphere. I think that you should look at programs with guaranteed med school admission. You have the stats to get in. You don't like the stress and competition. And your parents may feel as if that med school admission is equal to Ivy League. I would say it is. Rensselaer/Albany med- places like that, and better. I think that Rice/Baylor is another program that might be good.
