Seems like everyone is getting their admissions decisions already, but I haven’t heard anything about mine. My portal just says “your application is currently under review”
I really thought UC Merced would accept me, but I guess maybe they’re going to reject me or waitlist me 
I really wanted to get into UC Merced bc they offer some good scholarships for international students that other UCs don’t offer. I already go accepted to UCSD, UCD and UCI, so I thought Merced was almost definitely going to accept me. And I see lots of kids with terrible or mediocre stats posting that they got into UCM… Sooo confusing why I haven’t heard anything 
My stats:
- SAT: 1980
- UC GPA: 3.73
No AP/honors
My essays were pretty good.
Other stuff:
- I’m half inuit
- I speak 4 languages
- I’ve owned an online store
- Been working and volunteering part time since age 13
Any thoughts on why I haven’t gotten my decision yet? Are they really rejecting me? So confused over here
They have to leave spots open for ELC eligible applicants so their acceptance process is slow. I would not worry until after April 1. No official rejection means you are still in the game.
What is ELC? Does that mean I have lower priority as an international applicant?
ELC is for California applicants that are in the top 9% of their HS class or state. They are guaranteed (if room is available) a spot at UCM if they are not accepted by their choice UC. As an International, you are in a different applicant pool, however; in-state applicants are given priority since California taxpayers support the UC and CSU system. Since the SIR deadline is May 1, all acceptances will be out by then and I am guessing by April 1.
Called the Admissions office today, and the man who answered said that most Freshman applicants should hear by the end of this month (31st?) and to check the Portal and make sure you don’t have any messages from the University asking for paperwork or something.
DD offered guaranteed Spring '16 admission. Probably will go to UCR or UCSC instead.
Wow - haven’t seen an offer of Spring admission. Can you hum a few more bars of that - what is that all about?
My guess, the ELC list must be filling up.
DD gets to enter in Spring 2016 provided she maintains grades, submits test scores, etc…
Yeah, ELC probably has an effect since there’s no wl at UCM, and she had fairly decent stats , too good for outright rejection but not enough for outright acceptance either.
Doesn’t matter anyway, DD is really, really happy to go to UCR - it has her major, she knows some other students from HS going there, so it’s all good from her POV.
