Havent recieved any admissions yet already april

Its april now and I have not received any admission decisions for fall 2013 from the UC's yet at all. Its giving me so much anxiety because I havent gotten acceptance or rejections while everyone i know is already telling me they got into at least 1 already.

I applied to all the UC's however my 2 choices are UCR and UCSB (TAG)

My gpa is a 3.09 (very close to a 3.1)
Major: Biology
Lots of extra curriculars
My essay wasnt too great
I went on a campus tour to UCR

On the tour the counselor told me I should be good but i dont know. Plus for UCSB im 0.1 off from the TAG required GPA, does that make a huge difference?
Someone please tell me if I still have a chance, ive been at a CCC for 3 years now I dont want to be stuck here for another year

I wouldn’t worry about it until April 20th.

I waited until 4/15 last year and got all my acceptances that week. It’ll be ok. UCSB accepted me last year but not this year…weird

Did you go in as a bio major? Most of the campuses are impacted for bio. I would wait for mid April.

yes I am a bio major I applied to that for every campus w/ a backup in biochem or chem.

I know they havent rejected me yet which is good but on the forums here I saw a few people get into UCR with only a 3.1 and its making me frustrated. I even went to the UCR campus and talked with the counselors and one of them even wrote a note to the admissions for me.

@damiansevren,

Relax. You seem like a very driven and motivated person, and I have no doubt you will end up at a UC and do well. You mentioned that you applied to every single UC, and I definitely believe you will get into at least one, if not a couple. I know the waiting game can bring plenty of anxiety, but I suggest you try to keep yourself busy and not think about it until the time comes in late April, as previous years have denoted. Believe in yourself!

@ac40507,

Wow, I feel like I’m replying to your posts on every thread tonight haha. Not to be intrusive, but may I ask why you think UCSB didn’t accept you this year as opposed to last? That seems very strange and I’m really curious about that, I always thought that once someone gets accepted, then they’re “in”, ya know what I mean?

is your pre-reqs and IGETC done? The biggest trend I’m noticing for those who are accepted below 3.1 are finished IGETC and Pre-Reqs.

I’m in the same boat, I haven’t heard of any UC’s yet. Not sure what to expect

@metal2

Well for UCSB I have almost all the pre reqs done except for physics 10b. And I think they also required organic chem, im missing that too. But 3 of them thats basically it. Plus I tagged there and havent received any news yet :confused:

For UCR however I dont have many but I have all the mandatory ones

edit: My IGETC is done I believe

I can almost guarantee that you’ll get into UCR. Their bio counselors have personally told me that a >3.0 is pretty safe. I got in with 3.01

They also said that they do not read the essay unless to break a tie.

Also as a note the main reason Im aiming for UCR is for their medical school program

Not having Ochem puts you at a disadvantage if you need to finish in two years. You may have to compensate with summer sessions. Ochem is more important than physics when it comes to getting upper div courses there.

@novalord2

Doesnt UCR have a high acceptance rate though?? I saw some people with good GPAs get rejected and now im scared i might get rejected for not having ochem (plus i dont have their physics requirement because i took lower div physics and they require higher div)

Your TAG won’t be accepted, the cutoff is 3.2, but they will still consider you for regular admissions.

@damiansevren

When I met with them I recall them saying that you need to have 3 of the 5 sequences finished: Bio, Gen Chem, Calc, O Chem, Physics. Gen chem is a must I believe.

@novalord2

On assist it says 3/5 but it doesnt say ochem is required
I have bio, and ill be finishing gen chem and calc this semester.

Then you should be good.

@Ucor haha it’s no problem. I really don’t know why. I actually had more ecs, higher gpa and a better essay. Weird. I couldn’t really transfer because of a health condition and it cost too much to take care of my condition and pay for school alone. I’m going to call tomorrow.

I finally got an acceptance!! I got into UCR. Also for some strange reason it says on their portal that my gpa is a 3.17? Is that my major gpa or something cause im pretty
sure mines a 3.09

Also it says that I need to finish calculus or that my admissions could be revoked but im planning on dropping it since im failing and retaking it this summer. Do you think they’ll be okay with that or do i have to finish it by this spring? :/
