Having trouble in math...

I currently take geometry and to be honest, I really truly don’t understand anything in that class… Today we took a exam and I failed with an average of 55%… the concepts my algebra and geometry teachers have taught me just doesn’t make sense to me. I am very scared that my failure in math will come back and bite me in the behind when I take the SATs. Do you guys know of any way I can improve in math class? (I have past tutors who have tried helping me with math, but every time, they would get frustrated and quit)

  1. Practice practice practice solving problems. Start with some of the basic exercises.
  2. Try proving some of the theorems or formulas that are presented (many can be proven without more advanced methods, but some you will have to wait). Proving the theorems instead of just blindly memorizing them will improve your understanding of the topic, as well as give you more experience with proofs.

I really don’t understand the simplest things taught in algebra or geometry. :frowning:

I am really desperate for some understanding of these concepts…

@Maddie929 What specific topics don’t you understand?

Did you bring up your concern/problem with the teacher? My school has a room with a teacher for every subject every period where we can get ‘tutoring’ in a way. Go in before school if you don’t understand something. Worst case, consider a local tutor who can meet you at the library or something (I’m not a fan of this as it costs a lot for what you really gain).
