No letter here either. I’m out, good talking to you all :)

no mail here either. thanks for the info. again, congrats to all who earned it.

I still think that until you get the “sorry” letter you can hold out hope. Nedthehobos post said should be out on Tuesday but who really knows for sure? They were still interviewing and deciding last week!

Plus d101’s son might not take the scholarship and others might say no…

I don’t know, I guess I am just hoping the CCers make it!

Are you going to accept Chicago, Silvykins?

Not to rain on anybody’s parade, but it used to be Pitt’s policy not to redistribute declined scholarship offers. Still, I agree with Jamiecakes: it isn’t over until it’s over. Don’t give up until you see it in writing.

I do have to give up though, because I have to put down a deposit at a school by May 1. That only leaves like 11 days from today.

I think it’s very rude of them to say they’d tell us by mid-April and not do so until the end of the month. We have other colleges and other offers that we are comparing. My life doesn’t stop for Pitt.

As for Chicago, that’s very likely right now, but I’m going to speak to their financial aid office and deliberate with my parents before I finalize my decision.

well, no mail for me either but since overnight mail does not translate into overnight to Alaska (it’s only overnight to the 48 contiguous states), i have another day until i shall despair completely. At this point I’m fairly convinced it’s not coming though.

I’m certain that the wait is unbearable but as you said May 1 is 11 days away. Seems like you have all the cards on the table: all your other admissions plus 2 from Pitt ( full tuition or Chancellor’s).

I agree with lkf725. Last year, we were told that they did not re-award scholarships that were turned down, don’t know if they have changed their policy this year. We found this was the case at most of the schools – it goes back in the bank for next year. A full tuition scholarship is nothing to sneeze at but I understand the Chancellor’s would even be better Good luck!

Ahh, I just assumed since the letter CuttingEdge received requested he reply ASAP because they were still interviewing deserving candidates (or something to that effect) that they would give out the scholarship if he declined.

I e-mailed Mr. McCord yesterday and he returned the e-mail today. I didn’t get the scholarship, but they seem to really want me to go to Pitt anyway.

To the recipients, congratulations! You’re set for the next four years; Pitt has some really neat things to offer and you will be treated well.

To the non-recipients (can’t find a better word right now, sorry), we already know we’re kickass to have made it this far. Don’t let this make you feel down at all; Mr. McCord said many kids who didn’t get the Chancellor’s go on to win big national scholarships and land graduate spots at prominent universities. So cheer up!

I’m flying into Chicago tomorrow, on a happier note. :):):)

Good luck at Chicago, Silvykins! I think you will love it there, it is an amazing school!

We’re definitely getting letters no matter what, right? I’m getting a little antsy because it’s the 23rd and I haven’t gotten anything - I’d like a little closure.

Disregard that last one - I got a red UPS envelope today. That is some kind of closure.

Congrats! Great news.

Congratulations! Nemo that is fantastic!! I am so happy for you.

Thank you Congratulations to the winners, and absolutely the best of luck to everyone else - you deserve it.

I was wondering if any of the people on this thread are on Facebook and would like to be friends. Since you will all be at Pitt with me next year (and I only know two kids going to Pitt so far) it would be great to get to know some people who will be in the UHC, Forbes, etc. If you are interested just PM me.

Good luck everyone who received the scholarship and everyone who will be going to Pitt. It’s a fantastic school and you will enjoy your 4 years.

After 2 gut wrenching weeks, son has decided to decline the offer. He spoke with the administration there about a week ago. What a tough decision! Ultimately, it came down to going to his “dream school” which happened to be a whole lot better for his major. Financially we’re taking a hit, but who knows? He is motivated to do really well knowing what a sacrifice it is to let him go to his #1 choice.

I will be getting off of cc soon…it’s been such a tremendous source of information and I think I need to go cold turkey…

Thanks to all…

Good luck to your son, d101!
