i know they start contacting students on roommate assignments beginning in mid-may. anyone hear yet?

We haven’t heard anything yet, but did get the teaser envelope selling sheets and other dorm accessories!

Yea, I noticed that they didn’t include the tread counts with those sheets. Anyway, I found a local store that sells nice XL sheet with 400 thread counts, not the 150 to 200 I suspect the advertising store sells. Cost is less also. Anyway, you might something better locally.

My daughter found a roommate via the Facebook student group Auburn University Class of 2014 ([Auburn University Class of 2014 | Facebook](<a href=“Facebook Public Group | Facebook”>Facebook Public Group | Facebook)). Her and her new roommate exchanged full names and student info. Then they emailed AU Housing regarding their roommate preference. Both needed to needed to email their choice. The next day, AU Housing sent a confirmation email that they would place both of them as roommates.
Naturally, they will probably receive actual dorm room confirmation later. According to Auburn email received in April, “…Assignments for Fall will be mailed beginning in mid-June and continuing throughout the Summer. The majority of applicants will receive their assignments by mid-June but applicants with later housing priority dates (typically if you applied for housing in January or later) are assigned as cancellations occur during the Summer.”
In addition in that same email from April, AU Housing noted …" we cannot accommodate all requests for everyone’s most preferred housing choice, we prioritize requests generally on a first-come, first-served basis. However, if you request a roommate, your housing priority will be determined by the earlier of both your housing priority dates. If you wish to make a change to your housing assignment, you will be able to make that request after Fall Semester begins."
My daughter is not a NMF or Presidential scholarship recipient, so the housing confirmation time period for those recipients may be different. Hope this information helps.

thanks metroatlantadad. we signed up early for his housing and he received the presidential schol., so he should be in aubie. he is on the facebook group, too, but decided to room blind. (esp. since they have their own room…yay) read and talked to several people and thought it best to not worry about it. there weren’t that many guys who were going to live in the honors and had presidential, so it looked like too few to pursue.

I got my room assignment today! I’ll be in Harper (Honors) on the Quad!

Did you get your assignment through email or snail mail?

My daughter just got her roommate assignments in the mail today. She was happy to get in the Village!

Daughter got her assignment today also. In Aubie hall with roomates from Georgia, Alabama, and California.

My daughter also got it today - Aubie with three GA roommates. I hope she is as lucky next year.

Would you guys mind posting on what date you applied for housing and if you fall under any of the priority groups for placement (National Merit Scholars, Presidential, Honors)?

Waiting for room assignments is killing me. I want to know how much room I’ll have before I start buying anything.

Navarre1, my D got hers today as well. In Aubie, with roommates from Georgia, Alabama, and Florida…small world!

Can you please post when you applied for housing? I live in Florida and I’m hoping/praying that I’ll receive something within the next few days.

My daughter applied in October. She is Presidential and NMF. I spoke with housing at CWE and was told very few non-Presidential honors students got into the Village, even those that had a relatively early deposit.

We applied in October, and D is also NMF/Presidential.

Thanks for posting. See, this is my dilemma. I am a Presidential and NMF, but I applied for housing (honors) in February. Now, I know that being Honors/Presidential/NMF gives me an edge, but I am worried that my application date might be too late for Honors Village Housing.

When you say that few non-Presidential Honors students got into the Village, are you referring to the Honors dorm in the Village (Aubie) or just the Village overall?

Sherigmom…Yep small world. Looks like our daughters a roomies…

When do you think those letters were mailed?

Student10: Call housing, you are probably assigned to the Villages as others who have found out they are in the Village also have a February application date.

As for the non-Presidential honor students. Most of them are in the Quad’s honor dorms. My understanding is that no male non-Presidential student got into Aubie in the Village and a few, but very few, non-Presidential honor female students got into the Village.

My understanding is that Aubie will be filled up with Presidential scholars pretty much exclusively. I am curious if any sophomore or higher Presidential scholars will be in Aubie or only Freshmen.

I will probably call within the next few days. It sounds like I have a pretty good chance of being in the Village based on what you have mentioned.

I have also been wondering if only Freshmen Presidential Scholars will occupy the Village. Based on my visit and talk to one of the housing coordinators, it sounded as if that will be the case. In such instance, it would pretty much be a one-and-done when it comes to honors housing in the village.
