hell with the prom?

I know a guy who last year instead of going to prom went to a cybercafe and played Counterstrike until the wee hours of the night with a bunch of other guys and kept saying how stupid prom was the entire night (I know- I was there for a time). Later, he said it wasn't worth it at all and regretted missing it.

"Obviously no one is going to wear the same dress for two proms in a row lol"
Boo
I went to prom last year and I love my dress and I am wearing it again because I love it. So to heck with you. Besides no one will notice because it is a senior prom and there weren't enough juniors there last year for anyone to remember.

point is: Screw the prom! I am going out for sushi!

I tried sushi for the first time last month, dissappointing since I'm Asian. anyways, the tenderness of wet rice around fresh meat is very delicious. and the prom, yeh...can't miss that. Gotta have a social life too.

Prom is fun. :)

jtheCANADIAN---uhhh, so you're asian? just jocking, I understand. Sushi is great, I love it. I am Russian..and African. Anyways, prom is too overrated. Yeah, its fun but its so damn expensive that you can have the same amount of fun for a way cheaper price. Prom is just dancing eating and talking to your friends...for a $1,500. Yeah right~ I ain't goin'!

gonna go with my sushi and break on da dance floor wit it...asian voice man, asian man go dance on floor no better dan dem black guys.

it's a rip-off really, just schools trying to suck out even more of our money

That's not true! I'm on student council, our tickets cost $50 a pop, but we just try to cover costs with a bit of profit. I'm at a private school so we give a one $1000 scholarship and one $500 scholarship to rising seniors and also, we give $500 to the next year's student council. Supposedly, the point of it all is to provide enjoyable "substance-free" (that is a joke and a half) events for the students, and well, I guess just to benefit the student body. But really, I think the purpose of the student council is just a chance for a small group of people to beef up their college apps a little bit more.

Yea at our school they advertised single tickets and for a couple i think you get a price break. thats crzy imo, im gonna check the prices this yr and am seeing if there doing the same thing.

Our tickets are 80 per person I think...is that a lot?

$80? hell no it ain't a lot!! My school is like$100 plus something!!!
and don't forget that you need money to do stuff AFTER the prom...add another 100 or two. Its a money sucking vampire!

ya, we also had to pay 'senior dues' during 9-12th grade, about 10 bucks every time. total cost including after party, tickets (for you and the girl), and rentals (tux/dress + limo) will be around $500 i'm guessing

Hhahahaha yeah it does cost a lot...but it was SO SO SO fun last year, seriously guys--GO! You will regret it if you don't!!!!!!

as long as I party w/my friends...I won't regret it.
I am just saying that you can do all the same things as on the prom, for little money! I'll still party, just not AT the prom.

Our prom tickets are $30...heh...and I've worked all year on student council fundraising to make sure they stay that way...

wow! That's mad cheap!! 30?
Nah, my school is broke.
When we do service in the school--monitor work, help around, and we want to record our service credits...we gotta pay $5.00 for a stupid card where we can record our credits!!! Each semester you need to get a new one if you want you credits recorded.!!

^ haha. man, i feel for you, paying get a report card? wow what's up with your school? it's just paper and ink really. does your school record grades by a grade program on a computer (like gradebookpro), or is it all pen and paper?

it's not a report card...it's a service credit card.
When u monitor in an office you get service credits...but in order for them to count you need to record them. The only way to do that is to buy a special card, write down where you monitor and have the teacher sign it. The card costs $5.oo!! :X !!
When u have a lot of these service credits you get an award at a ceremony.
Anyways, my school is a money sucker.

Geez. This thing is still alive?
