What are my chances at the following schools:

American University
Syracuse University
Princeton University
Dartmouth College
University of Virginia

I would say that you are "in" for American and UoV. Syracuse will most likely be a match whereas the rest (especially Princeton) will reaches.

This should be in the chances thread, though.

I think you're a good match for American, but Princeton and Dartmouth are going to be high reaches. Not sure about the other schools.

Good luck!

I think Syracuse would be a pretty good fit. I'd say UVA is a reach. Good luck!

Princeton, Dartmouth are reaches
UVa is a good target/high match
Syracuse and American are low matches

American University- In
Syracuse University- In
Princeton University- Rejected
Dartmouth College- Rejected
University of Virginia- In most likely

"Rejected" is a harsh way to put it, lol. Thanks for the comments, though.

Bumping up...

There is no question that being black will help you. The question that is yet to be determined is if it will help you enough to get into Princeton and Dartmouth. Don't want to discourage you, but I'm guessing that they have lots of black applicants with higher scores than yours, so it doesn't look realistic. My sister went to Dartmouth and some of her friends are VERY smart black girls. If you come from a state that typically doesn't send many students to P and D, they might look more closely at you. Are there other parts to your application that would make P and D want to take you over a higher scoring black applicant? Have you done extraordinary things or did you write engaging and unique essays? But anything can happen in college admissions, and we never know until the envelope arrives!! Good luck to you, wherever you end up.

Dartmouth sent me a letter and application that extended my deadline, does that mean anything? And, your sister is a girl. Does being a black male help any?

Beats me. My sister applied RD there but got her app submitted way before Thanksgiving, so it wasn't something she needed. I did all my apps way early too, mainly b/c she was bugging me. When did they give you to get it in by?

Didn't get the essays yet, if you sent them. Where will they come? I look in private messages but didn't see it yet. I'm too stupid to be on this site! :)
