For a UC, can I get sophomore standing (and save a year off tuition, right?) if I pass 5 AP exams and take a community college course? I have 2 3s, 1 4, and 1 5, and am currently taking psych at a cc. Should I take a cc class the summer before freshman yr or take how
many AP tests senior year to have sophomore standing? Btw, sophomore standing means only 3 yrs for a bachelors right? Excuse my grammar and punctuation bc I'm in a rush.

Bump cmon guys

Sophomore standing is 30+ units I believe. Depending on the AP class, each class gives you between 4-8 units.
Heres a chart from UCSD listing the units given for AP’s (check your college, though I imagine all the UC’s are the same): http://revelle.ucsd.edu/_files/ap.pdf

And, no, just becuase you have sophomore standing DOES NOT mean you are automatically able to graduate in 3 years. While AP credits do help, what really determines how long you stay in college is your ability to get all the required courses when you need them (IE: major courses, GE, etc) as well as how many courses you take each quarter.

So if I have enough, which will be 30+ with one more AP exam next year, I will be considered a sophomore? If I complete the required coursework for my major and general education/breadth requirements in sophomore-senior year and take the average # of courses each quarter, then will I be able to graduate in 3 years?

In theory, yes. If you absolutely want to graduate in 3, I highly recommend seeing your college counselor as soon as possible and make a customized 3 year plan, that will give you a more comprehensive idea.
