So, I'm going into UCLA (as a freshman) this fall with 44 units of AP credit. According to the UCLA website, you're at sophomore standing once you've completed 45 units. In that light, would I be considered a sophomore after my first quarter? If so, is there any significance in that (in terms of getting classes, graduating early, etc.)? I'm not sure how the whole credit/standing thing works.

You will count as a sophomore, and it means you have slightly more priority in picking classes (which can come in handy). AP units can also be used towards the 180 you need to graduate, though you still need classes for your major and GE’s.

it should help you slightly but ALOT of people come into first year as sophmores, my roommate even came in as a junior and had senior standings by winter… so its not going to help you that much, but from what i heard about priorities getting cancelled it might come in handy during first year…
