Is there anything on collegeboard.com that tells you that your SAT scores have actually been received by the college? I know that under "history of sent scores" there is a "process date", but I'm pretty sure "process date" isn't the date that the college received our scores.

The only thing I can find is collegeboard's vague guarantee of 3-5 weeks for scores to be sent...there isn't anything specific.

Speaking of the 3-5 weeks it takes for scores to be sent, does anyone know how accurate this is? I sent my scores non-rushed about a week ago, which only gives me a maxiumum of 4 weeks for the scores to be sent. Should I play it safe and send my scores again, but this time do rush delivery? My scores were processed two days after the October SAT, which is the last possible test day scores could be sent--but technically the process date for October SATs will be a couple of days after the test is taken. Can someone who took the SAT in October check their "history of sent scores" and see what the process date for their October SATs is?

All in all, I'm really confused. Any help or insight is greatly appreciated.

The only way I know to check if a college has received the scores is to get the word from the admissions office. Some colleges assign a username/password so the applicant can check on-line. You can also phone. Phoning is probably more feasible at smaller schools than big universities with tens of thousands of applicants.

I don't know if CB does this, but for the ACT I found I could call them and they could tell me when scores were reported (or would be reported) for each school. The vagueness stems from the fact that schools have different score schedules and preferences (comes from them and not the ACT).

So if you have a school that only wants score reports at a set time each month (and that set time has just passed), you may end up with a 5 week delay.

Also, some schools don't want rush reports. Either the school or the test company should be able to tell you if this is the case.

If a school doesn't receive your test scores (or recommendations, or whatever), it will let you know. My daughter had reported test scores go missing at two colleges (hence my call to ACT) and a recommendation that didn't make it to another. The colleges all let us know, replacements were sent, and the problems were solved. If you are operating under an assumption that everything absolutely must be received by an application deadline or you are toast, relax. It doesn't work like that :)
