hello all, i'm a rishing senior stuck in this mess of college apps. and after spending time here on CC it has succesfully made me feel like crap. i was pretty confident in my abilities to get into a school until i got here. i was thinking of Cornell University ED. it seems that test scores make the world go round. though i do not doubt the importance of good test scores. i don't believe that it can unequivocally dictate one's chances into a good school. So i ask one simple question that would be very helpful to me if you guys here on CC can give me your honest opinion. either give me a reality check or something. What is moer appealing to a top school cough Cornell cough, someone with a 2400 SAT with standard ECs (clubs, volunteer, class president) or someone with a 1930 SAT but has written and published 3 books? i thank you guys for your time, and again an honest opinion would help me out a lot...if i may be in over my head. please don't flame me ^^

I would say it depends on the essays. Though a 2400 is very appealing.

I think publishing 3 whole books will make you desirable at most colleges, probably just as much as a 2400. You would definitely not be in over your head to be applying to Cornell, but you'll want to apply to some safety schools too.

Out of curiousity...what are your score breakdowns? As if they are all in the 600's, and Verbal is the highest, that will definitely be working for you. But even if 1 is in the 500's or lower, it doesn't rule you out.

It might be best for you to just retake it though, as for Cornell you'll really want all 600's at least. Try the ACT too.

ohh, well it's actually pretty even 640V 650M 640W, i'm interested in the arts a sciences college though. and my GPA is 3.9 unweighted, i would have 10 AP classes by the beginning of senior year
