Hey guys! My friend was thinking about colleges and wanted to know what would be good for him. He would apply anywhere that has the following criteria:

Good French Program
Good History Program
Preferably small
Preferably in North/Northeast
Relatively challenging/prestigious

He already has some in mind:
Cornell
McGill
Bowdoin
Middlebury
Amherst
Washington and Lee

Would these be good schools for him and do you guys have any other suggestions? Thanks!

Cornell is not small. Neither is McGill.
Many top LAC’s will work.

^ Ok, thanks. Also, he told me just now he doesn’t really care about sizes.

Why Washington & Lee when there are literally dozens of schools in the Northeast that meet the same criteria?

My friend wanted some regional diversity I guess.

Then I think your friend needs to think about why he/she picked those particular schools, especially the ones in the Northeast, instead of picking other, similar schools in the same area. If he/she can clearly say why he/she picked those schools, then and only then is that a solid list.

Also, unless we have some idea of your friend’s stats we can’t categorize the schools already listed or suggest new ones within reach/match/safety.
