Here's What I Want for a School... Reccomendations?

-Strong academics, but not too competitive
-In/Near a city
-Laid back, work hard/play hard atmosphere
-Definite campus (aka not NYUish)
-Prestigious in some way but doesn't have to be Harvard
-Well rounded, don't have to know exactly what I want to major in so its strong in many fields

Any suggestions?

PS this is for a friend a year younger than me... aka why i'm college bound haha, they aren't quite yet.

I suggest your friend consider University of Washington at Seattle. It fits the descriptions given.

If you have the stats, check out UPenn.

Wash U, Rice, Georgetown, Tufts

How big a school does your friend want? From your description, I'm thinking LAC...

Fordham, Manhattan College, Northeastern, Holy Cross, Clark, Providence, American, Loyola, Goucher, SMU, Case Western, John Carroll, Ohio State, Duquesne, CMU, UMiami, Georgia Tech, Emory, College of Charleston, Loyola Marymount, Loyola CHicago, DePaul, UDayton, UCincinatti, UBuffalo, Canisus, Temple, Lasalle, Villanova, Tulane, Occidental, UDenver, Regis, Butler College

I agre with many of the suggestions so far, and add Brown, if a smaller city is OK.

If they are interested in LACs, I suggest (some of these cptofthehouse mentioned):

Occidental
Goucher
Macalester
Lewis + Clark
Haverford
U of Richmond
Sarah Lawrence

If a girl:
Wellsley, Barnard, Bryn Mawr (maybe others?)

Those are all in or very close to cities.

Haha yeah...UPenn not too competitive.

University of Rochester.

My brother looked at Rochester before finally deciding on Loyola MD. It's a beautiful place and would certainly meet most of the criteria you mentioned before, except for maybe the prestige.

Boston College

Can't believe no one has mentioned Vanderbilt.

I don't know what your grades are but Bowdoin, Clark, Haverford/Bryn Mawr, Tufts

definitely Rice

They want something between 5-12kish. Not too small, not too big. Thanks for the suggestions!

And also she has great stats, top 5% and 2200 SAT

Brown
Northwestern
Rice
Tufts
Vanderbilt
Wash U

Tufts, American, Georgetown, Holy Cross, Boston College, Trinty

Macalester was the first to come to mind.
