Okay, so I'm going to apply to some Jan. 1 deadline colleges, and I have absolutely no idea on what to do for teacher and counselor recommendations.

We have Christmas break in a day, and we don't get back till the 11th of January.
I e-mailed my counselor whose overseas right now, and he told me & along with searching on these forums that we can turn in the recommendations later than the deadline? Is that correct?

Also, I am applying for a couple colleges that have different teacher rec forms, and I was wondering if this might irritate them since one is long enough already, doing a couple might seem annoying. If I get this correct, my teacher after completing the forms, will give them to my counselor and then my counselor will send them? Please respond ASAP as tomorrow will be the last day of school and we come back after deadline dates. Thank you so much.

Yeah, my counselor told me as well that as long as you get your application/SAT scores in on time, then it won’t matter if your teachers/counselors are late.
Your teachers shouldn’t mind writing more than one letter of rec-it’s what they do. I hope they like you though : ) And remember to always thank them and get them a gift later.
And…yeah…I would assume they give it to the counselor to mail to the school. I think. Funny, I never thought of this.

DDs school required that all requests for recommendations and transcripts be turned in by Dec. 1 so there would be time to process them before break. They go until the 23rd.

I think you’re right about how it generally works altho the teachers should be able to mail them themselves (you give them a stamped, adressed envelope)…and like the other person said it’s usually not that big a deal if the recs are late as long as everything else is in on time–cuz then it’s not your “fault” or at least they don’t know it is…but you probably shouldn’t wait till Jan 11! if at all possible get your teachers to do them before then…beg, plead, bribe…
