I need your guys help. For those of us in Political Science, there is a major prereq called -

POL SCI 10 Introduction to Political Theory.

This prereq was canceled at my college so I am afraid that I might be rejected from UCLA on that basis. If that is the case, I am considering the idea of staying at a community college for one more year (that's just how dedicated I am to go to UCLA). However, staying at my community college is not a guarantee since the class was chosen to be canceled due to a lack of interest. With that being said, I am considering to go to a community college down in SoCal (i'm from the Bay).

My question is : Does your community college offer a class for that prereq? If so, is it only in the Spring? (If your cc offers it during the fall, that's a plus). Also, does your school have a strong TAP program/connection to UCLA?

I've been looking at Moorpark College but it appears that they only have it during the Spring. The reason why I'm moving to LA also stems from the fact that I am interested in taking courses at UCLA Extension to get an head-start. I dont really know how that works but all I know is - I'm exploring other options in case I dont get into UCLA.

Thanks!

According to all the UCLA reps I've talked to, if the class isn't offered at your community college, not taking it won't knock your admission chances.

I'm a Political Science major and that class just straight up wasn't offered at the CC I went to.

me too, poli sci major. and there is 7 sections of one poli sci class. so annoying. i can't travel 40 minutes (one way) a day to take one class. i hope it doesn't hurt me.

I would notify UCLA of the class change and let them know that you droppped the class because the class was cancelled. If you go to their admissions website, they have a e-mail address to which you can e-mail data changes.

If, however, you do get rejected from UCLA (and you should not get rejected on the basis of failing to register for a class because it was cancelled), you should look into Santa Monica College. They offer this class in addition to a lot of other Poli Sci classes and they are the number one UCLA feeder school.

I hope so. My gpa is above the average Poli Sci from last year plus I have TAP. According to other people, the fact that I only have 41 units done at the time of the application (i'll have 60 by end of spring) isnt going to hinder me. I have 2 out of the 4 "supposed" offered courses done (with 1 in progress and the other canceled). Plus my EC's and my essays are pretty solid. If I get rejected, I don't know how and why. >:/
