HELP- I cursed in my SAT essay and got NO POINTS

No, just kidding, made you look.

Do colleges still accept the Math 1 sub test? I hate math. I wanted to take US and Lit, then I realized history and english aren't the different fields they're asking for... or is it? Is it just like, you can't take World and US, idk.

Anyway, how is math 1, and do colleges still take it? I'm not looking at Ivies, mainly good liberal arts schools like Bryn Mawr, Swarthmore, Brandeis, GW, and Holy Cross. I'm not going into a math related field or program either.

Danke shane.

BUMPppppppppppppppppppppp

Bumping this again. bump.

Bump…

sorry for all the bumping. but you got to do what you got to do.

Different schools have different policies, but I believe that most schools do accept the Math 1 subject test. But if you feel more comfortable taking US and Lit, then maybe you should do that. I don’t think any school requires a math or science related subject test, but there are a lot of schools out there so call their admissions office or look on their websites to find out.

Thanks reach4thestars! Good luck with your college search!

If you have ever taken a pre-calc/trig class, then just go ahead and take math II. Most colleges don’t even accept Math I. Additionally, the math II curve is much more lenient. If you are decent in math, you can score over a 650 easy.

Really? I thought colleges accept either. I took the Math 1 just because I didn’t have enough time to learn the material for the Math 2, I scored high and I got into a couple ivies this year. So unless you really like math, I would say don’t bother with either. And if you want to take one, try a couple practice tests to see which one you feel you’ll do better on.

Lots of people on here say colleges don’t accept Math 1, but on college websites… they don’t say not to take, and I’m not even looking at ivies. I am in pre-calc this year, doing decently well, A- range, but on tests … it won’t work out. I think I’ll stick with Math 1 if I must take a math one.

Well on the UC website it says …
“Two SAT Subject Tests. These must be in two different areas, chosen from the following: English, history and social studies, mathematics (Level 2 only), science or language other than English”. So you should really check with the colleges you are applying to…

I agree with pness21, you really have to check all the schools you’re looking into. You never know what policy they could have. But with UC, it doesn’t say a math test is required, so you can just take an english and history if you prefer.

Why’d you bump this every minute…?

Because then it wouldn’t have remained in the latest posts category, thus losing precious accessibility, and since posts accessibility is based on their popularity, i decided to bump it to keep it looking special.

If you title your thread with a name that actually corresponds to what you’re asking, I’m sure the helpful CCers on here would still click and respond to it.

Anyway, based on where you want to go and what you want to do, I’m pretty sure most colleges will accept the Math L1 subject test.
