I'm currently a 3.6 GPA UW and So far I've only two honors course (English and Latin). No extracurricular activites and volunteer services. No leadership roles, no brainaic awards.

I was wondering, if anyone had any advice on how to do better in High School?

How do you manage your time?
How many AP Courses do you take?
What's the lowest grade possible on a report card that can get you to NYU?
How can I participate in extracurricular activities?
How can I be positioned in a leadership role?
How many clubs and teams is enough?
What kind of preparation is good for the SATs/ACTs?
How many hours a week do you study?
How valuable do awards and honors count on your resume?

How can I become a better student overall?

Hmm... how long have you been lurking? You may be brainwashing yourself by staring at the WAMC threads.

How do you manage your time?http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/search.php? (look up procrastination)

How many AP Courses do you take? As many as you can handle.

What's the lowest grade possible on a report card that can get you to NYU? Maintain an upward grade trend from now and hope for the best. Be opened minded to schools outside of NYU. Data from PrincetonReview.com:

Average GPA: 3.63
Average SAT: 1331

Soar above these numbers.

How can I participate in extracurricular activities? Well, talk to the activities coordinator at your school for starters...

How can I be positioned in a leadership role? Through commitment to your EC's. Or you can start EC's by founding clubs.

How many clubs and teams is enough? Don't be a pathological joiner. 2-3 with excellent time commitment and interest. You can do a bit more than 2-3 but you don't want to spread yourself thin. Remember to have time to yourself too and of course, studying for school comes first! It's not impressive to have bad grades and a gazillion EC's.

What kind of preparation is good for the SATs/ACTs? Read Xiggi's Method in the SAT Forum

How many hours a week do you study? Hahahaha. Ask your teachers how much you should be studying for the classes. I have no idea about the difficulty of your individual courses.

How valuable do awards and honors count on your resume? Well it's not so much about collecting awards. They show a lot in terms of talent and where your commitment [dare I say passion?] lie.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
