Help -I regret my decision.

Hi there, I had a really hard time deciding between Pepperdine and U Miami. In the end, I sent my confirmation and enrollment deposit to Pepperdine. Now, I feel I really should be going to Miami. Is there any way to reverse my decision?

If you have not already sent in your notification to U of Miami that you are declining their offer of admission, I think you have a good chance. You won't get your deposit back from Pepperdine, but that is not such a big deal in comparison to regretting a decision for four years.

if you can't change anything- don't worry, you probably just have cold feet. If you are open to new things you can have a great time no matter where you go.

just call university of miami, and tell them you had been waiting on financial aid from another school before making a decision, unfortunately it took this long, but you would now like to send your deposit to university of miami. sitting and asking people online, won't help you. you need to be on the phone asap with university of miami like tomorrow at the very earliest.

ps why cold feet?

I think a lot of people have feelings like this, and unless you can pin down a few REAL reasons (not just bad feelings) about not going to Pepperdine, I wouldn't do anything. Maybe visit Pepperdine again if you can? Over the summer your decision can sort flipflop, but when you get there you'll be more sure. Really.

Since UM has gone to the waiting list, that means it hasn't overenrolled its freshman class. Call first thing in the morning. My S loves it there. He will be a senior.

I went through the same thing, and decided to just go to the school I deposited at. Good luck. :)

I'm in a similar situation. Sent in a deposit to Notre Dame, but having this surge of desire to go to Northwestern. I suppose it really doesn't matter too much, but this feeling right now ****ing sucks anyway.

Why couldn't I just get rejected from all my top choices but one?

Thanks for the adivce. I just feel so guilty about making my parents pay the $770 for nothing...I could pay them back, but it's still a waste of money, not to mention all my summer job funds. I do have reasons for wanting to switch...dance and cheerleading have been an integral part of me for my whole life, and I know Pepperdine's school spiritand athletics are sub-par. As well, neither their dance or cheerleading team competes, and that's what I live for. Plus tryouts were in April. At Miami, I can even take dance and earn credit. I've never been to either school...I've been to Florida though, and I felt really at home there. Miami offers more activities and student life. Lastly, my parents have always alloted me a huge amount of trust -I'm in charge of all my own decisions -and I couldn't imagine having my freedom restricted. I confirmed there since it has a lower acceptance rate and I felt I had to work harder to earn my acceptance...anyway, thanks again all. I appreciate it.

My daughter just got accepted off of the waiting list as U of Miami. She is very excited about going there but heard today from a couple of people that its a pretty fast crowd, people are not very nice, its a commuter school where lots of kids go home on weekend, and there is not much campus social life....more clubbing then a campus social life.....I realize that the comment about people not being not very nice is a serious overgeneralization but just asking if anyone has strong opinions about U of Miami. We visited there and it is beautiful and it is improving in the darned rankings....great looking kids...great diversity, etc...What do you think? She her other two choices at this late hour are Washington and Lee University and Miami University in OH.

Did u call UM and ask if you can still attend? My S attended without visiting first and it all worked out. Gorgeous campus!

Kazwah: More than 50% of students live OOS, so how could they commute home on weekends?
UM is changing its policy (not sure when it takes effect) to require freshman to live on campus.
