I submitted my SIR to UCSB because they offerered a better financial aid package, but I recently found out that the lower housing costs at UC Davis makes up for the gap in cost. UC Davis was originally my first choice. Is there any way I can still change my decision and attend UC Davis. Also, it would be a lot mroe convenient for me since I live 20 minutes from UC Davis.
I’m sorry to inform you, but you cannot do that anymore. The deadline to SIR for all UC’s was on May 1st, unless you were accepted off the waitlist.
You could try contacting admissions at Davis to see if they’ll let you switch late, and if they will you’d need to contact UCSB about switching. I wouldn’t count on it happening, but it’s not impossible.
@phantomvirgo they said it’s possible but I have to appeal through e-mail. I had a pretty good reason but I wasn’t sure if my letter was long enough. The only problem now is I have to submit my housing contract to UCSB by tomorrow. It costs 250$ to cancel it if I do get accepted for my late SIR.
nevermind! I just got an email saying that I GOT APPROVED FOR LATE SIR! YAYYYY! Now I just have to call ucsb to cancel my sir there.
Oh then I guess I was wrong. Congrats though, by the way I’m also going to UCD this fall.
Congrats!
I mentioned contacting admissions because I personally know two people who were in similar situations. I’m actually currently living with one of them. Both of them contacted UCD in the middle of summer to change their minds and were allowed in. I didn’t want to say anything definitive because I wasn’t sure if UCD still would do that (both of these cases were for fall 2012 matriculation), but evidently they still will take people late.
Anyone else that’s currently in this kind of situation, take note: Try contacting admissions. It’s not a guarantee, but there’s still a chance.
