I recieved admission to the Indiana U Kelley School of Business direct admit program and the u texas McCombs school of bus. I know that McCombs is ranked at 5 and IU at 11, but I am a Michigan resident so would be out of state for both…IU will cost me about $20k/year with scholarships and Texas will cost me $35k/yr no shcolarships. I want to go into ibanking or trading after college and definately will be applying for BHP at Mccombs or Ibanking workshop at Kelley to put myself in a position to get such a job. My questions are as follow:

Can somebody please tell me more about the ibanking workshop at Kelley?..beyond what it says on their website because I’ve read that several times

I have been able to locate a list of companies recruiting at IU https://ucso.indiana.edu/cgi-bin/ReportCenter/TopCompaniesHiring.cfm
…but could not find anything similar for McCombs; does anyone know where I can find the list of recruiters at McCombs??

What are the prospects of getting an ibanking/trading job graduationg from McCombs or Kelley?

Is it really worth it to shell out an extra $15k to go to Texas?

And finally which school is better/which should I go to and why please???

Thanks a lot, feel free to answer any, all or none of the questions, or just comment on the subject in general, I look forward to reading your responses

1) I go to Kelley. I've talked to a few people in it, and they seem to like it, but more importantly, if you get in there's 100% placement in ibanking. As for what they do, they do a lot of interview practice, trips to NY to network, and I think they do one class.
3)Again, if you can get into the ibanking workshop, it's 100%.
4)No
5) They're pretty similar, most would say UT is better, but it really doens't matter that much.

forgiven- i was actually deferred from umich and im waiting to hear back from them in april

zippo- wow i knew the ibw was good...but i never knew it was that good. that explains why they only take 80 people into the program each yr.

Does anyone know what kind of gpa i to get into the ibw, or what else might help me get into the ibw? and is it essential that i be in the mitte honors program??

Did you see that over 71% of McCombs grads stay in Texas? I'm thinking you want to go to Chicago or New York. Save your money. If you do well at Kelley (3.5+), you will do just fine. I've spoken to someone who is soon graduating from Kelley with IBW and he's ibanking with large (really good) firm in Chicago for a few years.

i did not know that 71% of mccombs grads stayed in-state...but if im not mistaken many of the big banks (gs, lehmen, merrill lynch etc..) do have ibanking/major offices in houston.

also if anyone has a link to a list of recruiters at mccombs or at least knows which companies recruit from mccombs please do post it.

Every BB and many MM (Jefferies, BS, DB) recruit at McCombs. Even some highly touted boutiques such as Greenhill and Blackestone do the same (I think those are saved for BHP/FAP students however). The only problem is that these companies do not hire in such great quanities as they do at HYPW or NYU/Ross.
