Help me choose schools to apply to! (Please) (You can make fun of my GPA if you want)

I'm a Jersey girl engineering major with a 3.3 college GPA at my CC (I went to a LAC for one semester but got sick and could only swing a 2.0), thanks to a D I got in Calc II. I'm retaking it next semester, but I was hoping to apply for spring '07 admission. My test scores are good -- I took the old SAT I and got a 780/780 and a 790 in the writing SAT II, but since those don't really matter anymore, I really just said that so you guys don't think I'm an idiot. What schools do I have a chance at? I reeeeeally want to be out of here for the spring of 2007 :(

Also, Northwestern's website says that applicants to McCormick are encouraged to apply for the fall -- but CAN they apply for spring or winter quarters? I'm sure you'd have to have a ridiculous application to be accepted for the spring, but I'm just wondering if I can even try. People are telling me to look at RPI -- but is it worth applying? I really do want to go to school in a city so I don't want to bother if I have a really slim chance of being accepted.

Schools with a good engineering program, urban location and reasonable acceptance rates:

Carnegie Mellon
U of Texas at Austin
Johns Hopkins
Northwestern
U of Wisconsin
RPI
Rice
U of Southern California
U of Notre Dame
Vanderbilt
Drexel

Some schools that might be even more "likely/safe": Hofstra (NY), Northeastern (Boston), Tulane (New Orleans -only if you want BioMedE or ChemE; they have eliminated the other Engineering majors, but these two are very strong), St. Louis U, Trinity (Hartford), Villanova (Phila). Some of these will be very safe for you; some varying degrees of match/reach. I think you do have a chance at some of those which bs2 mentioned also; but you need to cover your bases as the # of transfer spots can be limited, so it is sometimes harder as a transfer than as a Freshman.

Many schools do still take you SATs into account esp. if you are applying for Sophomore standing (I'm guessing that Spring 07 you would still be a sophomore?).

3.3 for an engineer major is pretty damn good.

try Univ of Rochester

TRY UIUC or Purdue University
