I am currently torn between two schools: university of Georgia and Ohio state university. I will be studying psychology going down the pre physician assistant route. I am out of state for both and got scholarships making it the same cost as my state school (bing in NY). At uga, I am in the honors program which seems like an excellent honors program full of benefits. At Ohio state, I got into the health science scholars program and plan on joining honors after my first semester (I chose scholars Bc I knew I could only apply going into first year but could join honors whenever so I wanted both). I visited osu and loveddd it. The campus is beautiful and the city was very nice. I am visiting uga this week which I’m super excited about and heard great things about Athens. I’m honestly just looking for advice on both and if anyone knows anything about these programs or if getting hours for pa school is possible at them. Also some concerns I have are about the heavy Greek life at uga Bc I’m not 100% I want to join but don’t want to not join and lack a social life and I feel like osu was one of my easier schools to get into so I’m conflicted with the whole “was hard work worth it” thing since I had to eliminate harder schools Bc of money. Besides that, both seem like great options so I would love advice!
OSU. You don’t need to worry about the Greek life at UGA. You’ll be fine if you go. Definitely go visit though. Athens has grown a lot out from the university but it’s still a small town in the middle of nowhere. Love them both but would take OSU every time.it especially for what you want to do.
I agree with OSU, and I’m probably a bit biased since I’m a class of ‘25, but OSU would have the better reputation for your field of choice.
Wait and visit.
Honors at UGA is terrific.
But the university is very Greek. During your tour, ask to meet with Honors students (see if you can arrange something) and ask about their social and cultural life, Greek life influence, etc. Email Honors and ask what percentage Honors students are in Greek Life.
Which fraternity/sorority were you in at UGA?
