Hello,
I want to drop CS31 Class this spring...
Its Tuesday of 9th week, and
I was wondering if I can still drop it with 'drop' notation on transcript.
I went to Student Affairs @ Boelter today, and the guy told me
it is quite difficult for people to drop after the deadline.
Is this true?

depends on if it's impacted or not.

if it's not, you need a late-drop petition with your prof's signature, and you can only do late drops (weeks 8-10) three times over your entire time here.

if it is impacted, you're kind of screwed... i think you need some kind of extenuating circumstance, but i've never tried so someone else will have to post about it.

I dropped CS 33 in the 6th week, but only because I work 20 hours a week. Basically it's impossible to drop unless you work 20+ hours or are ill, but it never hurts to try. Good luck.

well, I am transferring next year, and wanted to retake courses there...

hey charles

get your drop petition signed and see if it gets approved. I had the same issue last quarter with chem. Tried to drop it week 7 but SOAA's drop deadline is week effin 4 which i didn't klnow about. Anyway, they always say you need "extenuating circumstances" to get it approved, but my friend got his drop petition approved for chem pretty easily. I'm just guessing its the same for CS since its not impacted. Just come up with a good excuse lol

Thanks for the reply FireEmblem..
I have talked with my counselor today @ Boelter 6426
from what i know Engineering does not give petitions easily...
I think I will use the approach,
if i get credit for cs31 @ ucla for a course at upenn,
that would not let me take intro courses there, since I have to go forward.

I sent the transfer of credit @ penn about this email,
if cs31 would be transferrable.
I'll keep you updated.
thank you!
