Alright, I need to fulfill the World Before 1750 connection and the Beyond the North Atlantic connection. I also need to fulfill my Visual & Performance Arts requirement and my Literary Arts requirements.
What are some easy classes I can take to fulfill these combinations? I would prefer to take two classes max to fill all of them.

My son found that the freshman seminars were the best way to fulfill those type of requirements. They were smaller classes, and he was generally able to find ones that somewhat interested him. I believe he took 3 his freshman year.

History of East Asian Art was one of my favorite courses I’ve taken at Carolina, and that would fulfill your three requirements there.

It is definitely a difficult course, and so you might want to get a couple semesters behind your belt before taking it.

FYS are great, too, TAKE ONE! See if Mark Katz is teaching anything (he usually teaches something like ‘the art and culture of the DJ’ or ‘reverberations’. It’s hard to go wrong with the first year seminars.

I’m looking at Freshman Seminars for certain credits too. If one FYS falls under Global Issues and Social/Behavioral Sciences, do you get credit for both of those, or do you have to pick which one of those you want the credit for?

Both. Easiest way to fulfill those requirements is to take classes that fulfill multiple connections/requirements.

I’m actually going to be a junior so FYS are out - although I did take two and loved them. I didn’t pay much attention to what connections and reqs I had to fill early on and now I have to fill all these reqs. Any other suggestions for 2 classes that will fill the four requirements I need?
Cloying, do you remember the course name of History of eastern art?

Thanks in advance!

It was Art 158, History of East Asian Art I think. Definitely 158, though.

The semester after I took it the professor (Lin) offered Tang-Qin art or something like that.

[Wei-Cheng Lin | Art Department | UNC Chapel Hill](http://art.unc.edu/Art_History/Faculty/Wei-ChengLin/index.htm)

That’s his page. I ran into the same problem you had and literally knocked like four of my requirements out with that, hah.

I’m thinking about taking Art 158 and was encouraged by this website: [UNC - University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill | ART 158 - Introduction To East Asian Art And Architecture | ART 158 | UNC - University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill | MyEdu](http://www.myedu.com/ART-158-Introduction-To-East-Asian-Art-And-Architecture/course/s/1774858)

It showed 60% got A’s, but now I’m not so sure since you said it was a difficult class. Is this website not reliable for looking at class difficulty (I’ve been using it a lot…)? Also, is there drawing/painting involved in the class?

You can use your search function to find these classes. pick those two categories, and hit search for open classes. it’s the box in the upper left of the search box, and it allows you to pick more than one like BN and QI … etc.

Take Music 282 with me! (I think this will fill VP and WB requirements)

But I don’t have a music background…I enjoy listening to classical music, but I don’t really know anything about it. It looks like an interesting class though.
