Help me predict! Am I doomed to enter community college or have a gap year??

I believe that the majority of you guys have already finished your application season - so have I. As an int'l from China who need financial aid, though, I find it extremely difficult to predict the outcome of my apps.Am I doomed to community college or even lose schooling with such a list?

So here is my general profile, and I wonder if you guys can air your views and give your prediction over my list:

Need great amounts of FA.(Family Contribution at most $5k)

Please chance me for the following schools, including chances with AND without application for int'l FA (I require full-ride FA or scholarship from all schools below unless it is otherwise specified)
Amherst ED deferred
Baylor(EA) accepted (the merit scholarship, however, is not adequate to cover my needs - I'm still applying for more)
Uchicago EA deferred (merit only, applied for no FA; do I have a chance?)

Regular: HYPM(lol, high reach for everyone I know; do I stand a slim chance at those?), Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia, Brown(Do I have a chance on those likely considering my int'l FA status?)
WUSTL(merit only)
Williams, Swarthmore, Carleton,
Davidson(applied for merit+FA),
Wash & Lee(applied for merit+FA),Vassar, Colby, Hamilton, Kenyon, Trinity
(BTW: does applying EDII to one of the LAC really help my chances? I know it must be incredibly hard.)

For the sake of demonstration, please air your views on the following formats:

e.g. Harvard - denied
Yale - denied
Pton - waitlisted
XYZ University - accepted with no FA, etc.

and predict the outcomes of my application. Thank you very much and I will chance back!

You are an amazing applicant, but as an international who needs aid, it is very very hard to predict anything. Your best bets are actually at HYPM, Dartmouth and Amherst because they are need blind for internationals. I believe you will be accepted to quite a few of the LACs but getting aid will be another question. I think you just have to hope that your amazing accomplishments and on par grades and scores will get you into a top top school, because that is where the money is.

Also, if you don’t mind, could you chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1603058-another-chancing-guessing-game.html</a></p>

You are a strong applicant. You won’t be going to a community college unless you choose to. FA is treated differently for internationals at most schools. Be sure to apply to some safeties. Best of luck!

Actually, your non-reaches are as follows:

Colby: Low match/Match
Kenyon: Low match/Match
Hamilton: Low match/Match
Trinity: Match
Carleton: High match
W&L: High match

Did you bomb the gaokao or something? Else there would be a safety at home… if only outside the C9.

Your application is stellar, but as other people said, it may be difficult to get aid as an international. I agree with what everyone has said about your chances for those colleges. Your English is excellent, btw. Best of luck!

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=16842728</a></p>

Yeap, I am prepping for the gaokao at the moment…Just wanna make sure that there is a safety at home. Still, I’m curious about my chances to study in US - can anyone give opinions?

Your achievements are great, you should be proud! However, the fact that your an international lowers your chances greatly , but i think you have a good shot at the need blind schools.

Good Luck, I’m sure you’ll get in accepted somewhere!

you got good stats

@bbff1234 may you please chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=16842728</a></p>

I don’t know anything about international financial aid.

Harvard - Waitlisted
Yale - Denied
Princeton - Denied
MIT - Denied
Dartmouth - Accepted
Cornell - Accepted
Columbia - Waitlisted
Brown - Waitlisted
WUSTL(merit only) - Accepted
Williams - Waitlisted
Swarthmore - Denied
Carleton - Accepted
Davidson(applied for merit+FA) - Accepted
Wash & Lee(applied for merit+FA) - Accepted
Vassar - Waitlisted
Colby - Accepted
Hamilton - Accepted
Kenyon - Accepted
Trinity - Accepted

Financial aid might be really tricky, but your stats are really really great. Maybe look into some scholarship search engines? There might be some contests or scholarship opportunities out there for international students.

Your application is stellar but as the others said, predicting for fa is very difficult. However, you will be accepted into a lot of these schools(except maybe HYPS). So good luck!

well I mean your very strong candidate for any of those schools you have a good sat scores and you are first in your class. The thing is that you are applying to top universities so for every applicant it is pretty much a reach. Sine you are applying to so many I cant help but think you will get into at least one.

If not several. Also you will most likley get into colby, hamilton, trinity, kenyon, davidson and carleton.

You’ll probably get into your non-reaches, but just in general you have a higher chance at those schools that are need-blind for internationals. Your stats and ECs are honestly fantastic, so you’re definitely qualified (if not guaranteed, since no one is) to get into your reaches; I think you have a decent shot!

(Thanks for the chance, by the way!)

These are fantastic stats. Although you prolly wont get into everything, you’re bound to get into at least a few you are wanting to go to

Well, thx a lot for your comments!Still I feel uncertain about the outcome of my apps?
Can anyone provide more predictions on my actual results in the format above?I’d highly appreciate it!

With those weak stats, you’re ending up at community college for sure. Sorry, man. Should have worked harder.

Well, your stats are decent, but you seem like someone who is all work and no play. Schools want students who have good CVs, but also are human and not just admissions robots.

The international and financial aid combo is not good.
