I was gonna apply to cmu, georgetown, and johns hopkins but I just realized I need toefl score for cmu. I didnt know this. I need to turn in my transcript quick and I really need to choose a GOOD college that I have fair chance (high match~ mid reach)

HELP ME!!

Oh I forgot to add this. I live in eastern, so hopefully nothing western or southern cause that’s just too far. I don’t want big big colleges. Other than that, I’m okay with anything.

I’m female asian btw. If that helps with anything.
oh yeah. I’m also applying to financial aid…

so anyone please help

Why do you need TOEFL if you live in eastern? Are you a citizen or permanent resident?

I’m permanent resident. I got my greencard just few months ago.
I’ve been living here for about 6 years.
And I really don’t understand why they need my toefl scores. I think my SAT, GPA, and ACT pretty much proves that I’m fluent in English.

If you are ok without merit aid, the University of Rochester should be one you look at. They have extensive neuro and cognitive science majors with many research opps. Their merit aid app closed in early Dec though.

I’d also suggest Pittsburgh, BUT you said you didn’t want a big school and they are. Nonetheless, they are still quite good with plenty of options in neuro. I don’t know if they have merit aid left or not. They are a rolling admissions school.

Case Western, Rose Hulman. Both in the midwest, both small, both smart.

^^^ Does Rose Hulman have neuro? I think of them as an engineering school. I didn’t see it on a quick look at their “academics” page.

Case offers Cognitive, but not neuro, and even then doesn’t offer as much in actual course offerings or research (last I checked when middle was hunting a neuro school - well, HE checked, I’m repeating what he told me).

Try Northwestern! Such a fun school. Check out this tour guide video, will give you a good sense of what students are about <a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube;

thanks everyone! that really helps me.
If anyone has other suggestions, just throw out for me!
I’m really desperate rite now

Have you actually discussed the TOEFL requirement with CMU? Given the specifics of your situation, I would expect them to waive it.

Might look at Holy Cross-very good in science majors. HC(smaller version of Georgetown) has beautifil campus and offers good financial aid.
