pick my alternative major for UCLA?

So I'm a history major, so I've been taking courses mainly in history, but I'm stumped in trying to come up with my alternative major for TAP. I was thinking something along the same lines as history, but most of the pre-reqs required for some majors are not available at my CC (or any CC for that matter. Portuguese for Latin American majors-um, no CC offers this anywhere!)

I was thinking European studies, but my school doesn't offer Western Civ. (only world history, which I took, both of them.) But I took A.P Euro in high school and got a 3 lol. So would you think this counts?

Also thinking Spanish Community and Culture-School offers Spanish Civ course, but not Spanish American course (need to complete both)

Or should i go the easiest route-Comparative literature?

All you need is English composition/Critical reading (you need those for igetc anyway...) and Brit Lit and another English class. But I'd rather just chose a history-ish major, although I do like English as well.

Help me choose?

Why don’t you look up the UCLA admission statistics by major and pick something that has a high admit rate? If your primary major is even moderately difficult to get into, this may help. Additionally, you can almost always change your major once you’re accepted (provided you have the appropriate courses completed and your primary choice isn’t severely impacted).

There’s American Literature and Culture, which is taught out of the English department. As I recall, Assist didn’t correct list all of the prerequisites last year, but it may have been updated since, so double check them.

FWIW, I had TAP but a mediocre GPA, and listed American Lit as my alternate (but didn’t have the prerequisites for American Lit completed). I was fully rejected from UCLA (I did have all prereqs for my first choice major completed), but accepted to Cal as a Spring admit. So TAP isn’t a sure thing, even for your second choice, if you don’t have your second choice’s prereqs done.

Spanish Community and Culture has the highest admit rate at 65% then followed by European Studies which is 50%. I have more pre-reqs for Euro Studies done then I do for Spanish C&C-which do you think is the smarter move? Euro or Spanish?
