I posted my stats up in a "UC chances" thread a while ago, but now it seems I was able to get TAP certification after all...so eh (unfortunately I didn't specify an alternate major whilst applying (which is Anthropology, but I doubt they'll accept it since I didn't specify it on the original UC application))

Major: History
Alt.Major: Anthropology (if they allow it, but again, I doubt it, so no second-chance major for me : / )
UC GPA: 3.3-ish (major GPA: 3.75, I've heard they glance over it)
Applying to: UCD, UCI, UCLA, UCSB, UCSD, UCSC
Prereqs: Completed by Spring
IGETC: Completed by Spring
TAG/TAP: TAP certified
ECs: Volunteer at UCLA's Fowler Museum: Archaeology department, member of various youth organizations (including being an executive of some of the groups), lots of activism, et cetera. Long list of stuff.
Essay: Decent? Can't give myself a score; various professors looked it over for me.
Other: Did poorly freshman year (first two semesters I got an F (retaken) and two C's), got my act together during the summer, been getting nearly all A's since; upward trend (~3.75). Personal issues were explained in my personal statement, and how I was able to resolve them during the summer (every low GPA applicant seems to have them, huh?).

If you will be TAP certified, your scholars counselor (who takes care of all the forms) should have put down anthropology as your alternative major. That’s actually the form they consider - supposedly - when reviewing your application under TAP.

I disagree with edelynly, I think you’re in at UCLA. Your EC’s are really impressive. I mean seriously I was pretty taken aback. Your GPA is low, but with TAP, that doesn’t look so bad. Your upward trend is your most recent and therefore relevant coursework. They’ll take that into account when evaluating you. I’d say that you’re no shoe-in, but I wouldnt be surprised if you were accepted.

UCD: 10/10
UCI: 9/10
UCLA: 7.5/10 (75% chance in…pending your PS’s were pretty strong)
UCSB: 10/10
UCSD: 9/10
UCSC: 11/10

@ cooldude6: My bad. lol I’m not as familiar with UCI. I don’t know how difficult/impacted their departments are; I didn’t apply there. Thus, I gave it the benefit of the doubt and made it slightly more difficult to get into lmao. W.e. UCI: 10/10…there.
