I just find that I am not able to finish my English R1B, because the equivalent course in my university is totally full. I am a sophomore currently double majoring in Computer Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering with GPA 3.95/4.00, and I am trying to get into EECS/MatSE in Cal. I have finished all other required courses and the "strongly recommended" courses except the English R1B. I got reject from UCLA, because of the "missing English courses", so will it happen again to me for Cal?

I am totally freaking out. Help needed!!!

UC’s are generally strict with their math and english pre-requisites.

@IcedEspresso, is it possible to finish the courses during the summer section, or in the fall semester if admitted? Thanks.

I don’t know since I didn’t apply to CAL but it depends on the UC. I know some allow you to finish up until the end of this summer and some require that you’ve finished the course by fall 2011.

@IcedEspresso, Thanks a lot, dude!

my boyfriend almost got his admission rescinded last year because he had taken all three english classes needed but didn’t know he needed one more. (All three were transferrable btw) I busted my ass and finally got him into an english class with 6 weeks left into the quarter through the authorization of the vp of our CCC. Regardless, they are EXTREMELY strict on these rules. My suggestion? try to add an online class ASAP. you’ve worked too hard to lose it just because of one class. You could try calling the admissions and speaking with a representative of your department. Depending on the major, they might be more lenient but I doubt it:/ just call to be sure though. Best of luck to you!
