Help needed on how to schedule an overnight

Unfortunately we cannot get to Providence the night of 4/15 so my son could do an overnight with the admitted students. We could stay the following night (4/16), but Brown does not schedule overnights in the spring. Any ideas on how to connect with a willing student for that night? My son believes the overnights are a great way to get a feel for the school.

By the way, my son has a preference for going on regular student days instead of the special admitted student days. I know much has been written about this, but does anyone have any opinions for Brown? I thought in this case we could attend one day of the admitted student activities and then he could still spend a day on campus, although not a class day. However we could just as easily come up at another time altogether.

Thanks for any ideas.

I’m sure the Admissions Office is used to such requests, particularly because admitted students visiting days conflict with each other every year. I would call them and see whether they can help you work out an alternative. If not, I know plenty of people happy to host a prospective student—have him join the Brown University 2014 Facebook group and see whether he can talk to anyone there.

The Admissions Office is closed today, but does say that they are not scheduling any more overnights this year. So he may need to find a friendly student willing to act as host. I’ll ask him to try the facebook page. Any other ideas still appreciated.

If you’re already going to be staying there, it might be possible to schedule a day visit, where your son will go around with a student during the day. I think it usually consists of going to a class and eating lunch with the student.

Not exactly an overnight, but if you just want to see normal life, it might be helpful?
