Ok I'm a junior in high school. I am in a confused state.. I'm going to be a senior next year and I'm really nervous about my potential college major. I am 20th in my class (top 6%). I'm in all AP/ advanced classes. This year I've taken AP Calculus AB/BC AP Physics B AP Psychology. Advanced Lit advanced US History. I have many extracurriculars like Academic bowl Science Olympiad Beta Club and Invention team. I'm debating between: Mathematics/CellBiology or Statistics/CellBiology or Physics/CellBiology. The college of my choice has all these majors and I'm most likely going to get in... I don't want to sound cocky, but I know that it's not get hard to get into the college. Someone please help me and give me advice and guidance!! I really need some help please!

?? Ok saw your post on Georgia Tech’s forum. My son is going to GT next year but applied to and was accepted to a number of other colleges. What college are you saying isn’t hard to get into?

I’m talking about UGA I know Georgia Tech is very hard to get into

How about looking into the site and learning some stuffs?
Also I found this:
https://www.admissions.uga.edu/article/first-year-class-profile.html

It’s not as easy to get into UGA as it used to be. More kids are going there because of the Hope scholarship. There are kids at my son’s school who thought they would get into UGA and didn’t. I’m not saying you won’t get in just that it’s not a college that everyone can get into.

I would look at what your career path would be with each major and how much schooling you would need. My son likes math and started out thinking he would go into a major with a Genetics emphasis. Once he checked into it he changed to engineering.

Yea I mean my ultimate goal is to become a physician with a specialty in oncology. I know that it is harder but I meet the requirements for Zell Miller or however you spell it. I have so many interests I’m unsure of what may be the best option…

Well my school just introduced a “physics of cell biology” class and a cell biophysics lab, and based on other colloquia and things I’ve read, I’d say biophysics is a big new frontier. So physics pairs well with cell biology.

But I have no clue what your career prospects would be.

Yea my school of choice doesn’t offer that my ultimate goal is to become a physician

Have you looked at how many people from UGA get into Med school? Not sure if it would also give you what their major was. I know a lot of Biomedical engineering majors at GT plan on going to Med school. Not sure how many get in to Med school though. Since you qualify for the Zell Miller I would think you would have a good chance to get into GT.

You don’t need to figure out your major yet. I would look at other colleges too. There are out of state colleges that give really good merit aid that make them competitive with UGA and the Zell Miller.

Alright thanks. I’ve looked into the Biomed engineering it’s just when it comes down to it I’m more of a thinker than doer… I had to build many things for AP Physics and I just don’t really like the whole building or creating thing. I like working with ideas I guess you could say.

Also don’t focus on just one college. Expand your search. See what other schools offer your major.
