help pls i got a D in once class and dunno wat to do

i am a senior in a private school and i just got a D in 1st sem english (i slacked off in that class and mostly was focusing on AP Calculus)

i applied to UCI UCM UCR UCSC UCD

what do u think i should do?

should i take the 1st sem in summer school or something? how exactly dos that work?

and i know for a fact i could get a A or a B in that class next sem.

is there anything i could do?
and my GPA is over 3.0
and i live in california

my stats arent that good but arent that bad im pretty sure i could get into the low UC's but i wanted to know how will this D in 1st semester english class effect my chances of getting in UCI or any other UC i applyed to?

yea man this is wat id like to know too

i don't know man, especially this year, UC's are cutting enrollment, they will frown upon a D. Once you start getting your acceptances, I would call up the school and ask what you could do.

From UCD Admissions- Please note that the first semester of Chemistry can not longer be validated by the second semester. For more information on validation please see University of California - Counselors. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-general/641974-what-does-means-uc-website.html

I was in the same situation. I had one D first semester of senior year. I reported it to UCI, they said they'd add it to my records and I still got in.

In the past, the mid-tier UCs (Davis, SB, Irvine) have been pretty reasonable about not rescinding admission for a single D. One would hope they can continue to be so this year, but KoreanBoi is right that this year may prove more difficult.

Once you have your acceptance, report the grade to UCI and try to get their agreement that your offer still stands. It will probably improve your case if you can show improved performance for the 2nd semester (i.e., with a 3rd quarter or interim grade).

Good luck!

Please read my post above, "what does this mean" some courses, especially math can be validated second semester. It is the UC counselors website. Also, talk to your counselor at school if you can.

Having a course validated by another is relevant to fulfilling the a-g requirements... I don't think it applies to maintaining GPA in senior year coursework. But any1can's suggestion to talk to your counselor is a good one; I suspect they've dealt with this situation before.

Your biggest problem is that senior English is an admissions requirement. For sure you want to notify them, because they'll see you're being more responsible. If it's an AP or IB class, you may be okay, because they'll weight it. And be sure you do get at least a B Spring term.

Options for making up the requirement include the JC or summer school at one of the UCs. Assuming you don't have to repeat the class just to graduate from high school, and you can pass a UC or UC-transferable composition course,.that's a great way to go You'll knock off a degree requirement and be better prepared for your fall classes.

Also, if it wasn't an AP English class, you might still want to take an AP exam --you don't have to be in an AP class to take the test. A 3 in either the English Composition or English literature exam meets the UC Entry Level Writing requirement and gets you elective credit. At UCI, you'll also get English credit for a 4 or 5. That doesn't get you out of the Writing requirements, but it would cover a deficiency.

I know a friend of mine who got down right rejected for 2 Ds

but one D shouldn’t kill
