Hi Interwebs,
I need help. I applied to college this year and shit kinda hit the fan. My circumstances are kinda unique.
here are my basic stats,
UW GPA: 3.00 W: IDK
ACT: 30
IB Diploma: 27. HL history 4, HL biology 4, HL Theatre 4, SL math 3, Sl english 5, Spanish Ab 4, EE: B TOK: C
I went to an international school in SEA.
Extracurriculars
MUN VP Conference Affairs 10th grade
Basketball 10th, 11th
Volleyball 11th grade
Its not alot.
Anyway, I got waitlisted to davis, binghamton,
I got into UC santa cruz and Marymount college manhattan.
I applied to baruch and city college ny, but they never got my transcipt… my guidance counselor said she sent it in.
My application is definitely not as strong as many other people on this site. My GPa is insanely average, and the only reason why I think I got waitlisted to Davis and Binghamton is because of my act.
Anyway, In high school, like many others, I had some severe family issues happening at home. I definitely believe this had an impact on my ability to focus at school.
After high school I took a gap year. I didn’t apply to college. I got my suspecting ADHD diagnosed by a doctor, dug up lots of old files, including an IEP and got accommodations for my ADHD. I think alot of my struggles in high school were due to ADHD and familial issues(something I stated in my college essay). Anyway, I know I am more capable than a 3.00.
My question is to you, in the very real possibility that these waitlists from binghamton and Davis are soft rejections, and I go to Marymount (I want to stay in NYC, my home), do you have any advice on what to do for transfers. I believe i can become a solid A- student. Or does anyone have any advice. I am currently drafting my UC davis waitlist essay and Im trying to make it as tight and succinct as possible. If any davis or UC students are on this forum your help would be dearly appreciated.
Thank you,
Lucifer
