Hi im grade 12 student soon to graduate high school. I asked out a junior girl because i thought that she would be a nice prom date and we will have a fun night. But she seems to want more than just prom like a relationship. Our common friends have talked to me if we have a thing going on or If i am into her (for relationship) but for me its a no - theres two months left for school and im going away for college so I have no intentions for dating. I can tell she likes me because when i talked about two people in our club dating and she said she want to beat them and she doesnt mind long distance relationships. Also she asked me to lunch and i said yeah because i dont want things to get awkward during prom or i dont want to be mean. How would i decline and when and still have a good night at prom? Plz help
Declining after asking out a girl who apparently likes you would appear to be a real ■■■■■■■■■ thing to do.
Honestly, you should just straight up ask her. It will both clear things up and should be less traumatizing than straight up telling her you aren’t taking her to prom.
But again, like @HusssK said, CC probably isn’t where you should be asking about relationship advice.
You could also say to her:
“I just wanted to clear something up. I like you as a friend and thought it would be fun to go to prom with you.
But I hear that you like me more than as a friend…but that is not something I am interested in. Knowing that, are you still interested in going to prom with me as friends?”
Just tell her how you feel. You’re a senior, not 5 years old.
@Bobbybob444555 Are you trying to be condescending in every post? Is that a goal for you?
@bodangles the poster is most likely an adult and they should know this common things.
@Bobbybob444555 If they’re asking about prom, how are they “most likely an adult”? They’re still in high school.
You’re going around telling people how easy their classes are, unsolicited advice on how an entire thread of people are just “average,” and now that this person should just clearly know what to do in a fraught emotional situation because some freshman who thinks they’re a genius says so.
Get over yourself and cut it out.
Thank you very much! @bopper
@bodangles I’ve never said I’m a genius. Apparently, you think you’re one criticizing a person’s advice. It’s only advice so relax. No need to attack someone since this thread isn’t even about you.
