help! Queens wants my TOEFL

I applied to 17 US schools and every SINGLE one exempted me from TOEFL based on my SAT I Verbal score of 750. U Toronto and McGill did too, but Queens contacted saying their TOEFL requirement is "firm". and they need TOEFL scores by mid March.

I am a Canadian citizen living in Shanghai, China and doing the IBDP. It has never occured to me up til this point to take the TOEFL. And it's really expensive + hard to sign up for.
And I always believed it was pointless compared to the SATs.

MY parents are not paying a couple thousand RMB for me to take the TOEFL for just 1 school.
what should I do? I don't want to withdraw my app either, I spent a lot of time applying to Queens scholarships plus I really like the school.

Help!!
Thanks.

Try calling the office?

If you're a Canadian citizen, you shouldn't have to take the TOEFL - in theory at least. Apparently you're either a native-born English speaker or have a pretty good background in English (you're in the 98th percentile - you outscored 98% of test-takers - most of whom are English speakers). Did you indicate that English was a second language on your app?

Was your writing score decent (>550-600)?

^^

Many Canadian universities require everyone including canadians to take the toefl if they have not attendended a canadian high school for at least five years. I'm surprised U of T and McGIll gave you an exemption.
