HELP?!..I’m a transfer student, entering as a junior…I am not 18 anymore and definitely have no interest in dorming like a freshman. I would prefer to live in an apartment with other transfers in a single room. I heard stories that transfer students get stuck in crappy buildings in New Brunswick. I would prefer to have the apartments on college ave., but I know that is far off from reality.
- what is the best places to live in?
- what is the likelihood of getting an apartment in college ave. campus or any apartment?
- Is Rockoff Hall a good place to rent in?
My daughter was a transfer student at Rutgers. From her experience, they tried to put transfer students together. The first year, she was in Starkey apartments, with other transfer students. In fact, her entire building was transfer students! So they do try to keep them together - my daughter made quite a few friends that first year. They also house transfer students int the Newell apartments, right next to Starkey. Both Starkey and the Newells are on
Cook campus. My daughter originally wanted to be on College Avenue also, but she actually didn’t mind being on Cook campus. Now she did not have a single room - she did have a roommate. I’m not sure if there are single room options. She ended up going to grad school also at Rutgers. She just finished her grad degree this past December. She lived in an off-campus house the past two years, near College avenue, with some of her transfer friends!
I’m glad to here she had a great housing experience and was able to make friends with other transfers! I do like that RU keeps transfers together! How less expensive was living off campus for your daughter?
