I'm down to my final two, and I need opinions on reputation and job placement. I received a 20,000 scholarship from Gettysburg which brings total tuition down to 30,000. TCNJ with scholarship is about 15,000. Thanks.

Where would the difference come from? If your parents have the money and are happy to spend it on your education, then Gettysburg is OK. If you or they would have to take out that much in loans, then it is not OK. Run the numbers here, and then discuss the results with them: [FinAid | Calculators | Award Letter Comparison Tool](<a href=“Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid”>Award Letter Requirements - Finaid)

I’ll assume that you live in NJ. Within NJ I think TCNJ is better known and respected, with its reputation rising.

I would find it a little hard to justify the additional expense of Gettysburg without knowing more about what your interests are, and how much the price difference matters to your family.

I am going to major in economics and then either get a minor or major in math.

And I would have to acquire about 20,000 dollars in loans (for all 4 years) at gettysburg.

You should not take out more in loans than the amount permitted with Stafford loans ($5,500 freshman year, $6,500 sophomore year, $7,500 junior year, and $7,500 senior year). If your total loan burden after four years is only $20,000, then that isn’t too bad.

^I agree. If the total burden is an additional 20k for all 4 years combined, than Gettysburg. I hope you like Greek life.

I thought TCNJ s like the ‘Harvard of New Jersey’ … no?

I thought Princeton is like the Harvard of NJ…

Of coz Princeton excluded. But wasn’t it Princeton who actually had the name “The College of New Jersey” back in the day? This is confusing but I guess “it’s a Jersey thing” :p

Yes, and Princeton was not pleased to see a variant of the name used.

thanks guys, I decided gettysburg.
