Hi guys. Sorry for any grammatical errors or if any of these questions have been asked before.
I applied for junior year and asked for 2/3 financial aid. I got waitlisted at Deerfield, Andover, Choate, Hotchkiss and Peddie. I know the likelyhood of me getting off the waitlist is slim to none. But I played at Carnegie Hall after January 15 so I wasn’t able to send a video in. I now how the video so do you think it’s a good idea to send my performance video in and a solo video of myself as well around April.
On the other hand, I did get accepted into NMH. But I didn’t get any financial aid and I won’t be able to go unless I get FA. I’m on the waiting list right now, but what’s the likelyhood of me getting of the list. Also do you think writing a letter explaining why I should get financial aid is a good idea?
Thank you to anyone who replies!
@Lohasing I would absolutely send the video to all of your schools along with a nice personal email or note saying why you would be an asset at that particular school, explaining the video, and reiterating your interest. Musicians are always needed. Send it around the first week of April/End of March.
Re NMH FA my dd was in your exact position four years ago and that year there were a lot of kids on the FA WL. I would treat that WL the same as the others and make sure you sincerely express how much you want to attend- the video might help. They have a great music program! But I would avoid spelling out specifically why you deserve the FA because in their mind, everyone on that list deserves the FA. Instead focus on what you can offer the junior class as you do in the other letters. Hope this helps! You sound like a great kid.
Thank you so much for the advice!
Thanks for the advice @chemmchimney my daughter has 2 acceptances with FA waitlists and 2 regular waitlists as well. It was rough, and we are really hoping to get pulled. Trying to be hopeful yet manage expectations… it’s a fine line.
