I have realized that I HAVE to do something different. I currently have a 3.80 GPA, and I'm a sophomore in high school. This is a result of a B in bio honors (1st semester) and of my grades 1st semester of sophomore yr. I got a C in chem honors and a B in Algebra2 w/trig.
I have no trouble in my other classes (2 of which are AP). Along with the B and C, I also got 5 A's this semester (AP lang, AP world history, French 2, Multicultural America, Pre-IB dance). Those were also pretty, solid high A's.
The problem with chem and math is, we never have hw to turn in. But we have quizzes everyday. I'm normally not prepared for this and I ALWAYS end up pulling an all nighter the night before studying for a test. When it's 12 o'clock and I'm about to drop dead from sleepiness, it's hard to make yourself do Hw (studying) that's not due. My test average in chem were mostly C's, so it makes sense that Id get a C in the class.

I AM IN DESPERATE NEED OF A SOLUTION. I need to get all A's the rest of sophomore yr and junior yr to have a 3.9 by the fall of senior yr (when I'll be applying to colleges). The only classes that could get in the way of this are my math/science classes.

Have a textbook? Set yourself to do practice problems every day. It’s definitely hard with no scheduled homework, so you’ve probably got to impose it on yourself. Kahn academy might help too, I think they have problem sets after their videos now.

Sir, I understand your situation. However, there shall be sacrifices made. FORCE yourself into knowing the materials. Go ask your teachers and have a short talk. Otherwise, you may as well just sit down in front of the screen typing while affecting LITERALLY nothing except the constant of your grade.

Believe me, just keep studying and at one random moment insight will prevail. You’ll get that brain light bulb on. Don’t stress out. I was in much the same as you did and after some time I recall it a joke.

Hi, I sorry if I not add much new, but yes, you must work. You seem determine do well, so you should carry out in practice. Actual study even if you have no homewrk, do problems even if no assign. It will be hard, but pay off and you also learn perseverance, helpful in future too.

It also seems you’re having trouble in math/science classes. When planning for junior and senior year, I’d select more classes in disciplines you’re good at.

Chemistry is heavily math-based; work on those skills when you’re studying.

Well there’s your problem! Sleep is not optional. Lack of sleep makes you inefficient in your studying. Get more sleep, you’ll study better in less time, which then allows you to get more sleep.
