I’m going to college for Fall 2018 and I’m staying on campus. One of their rules are no appliances with open heating coils. Would a crockpot or slow cooker be under that category?
Ask the school. They don’t have external coils, but still be banned. Are you sure you would really eat in your room enough to cook and do dishes there?
My daughter’s school said no external coils. They meant no toasters or hot plates, things like that.
What I think most are looking for is this:
- something with auto turnoff-- like a Keurig
- Something that, should say a piece of paper blow onto it after you’ve left the the room, wouldn’t be hot enough to start a fire.
A crockpot is probably against code at most dorms because it’s meant to stay ON for hours, not turn off.
But check at your own school. You could probably email residence life at your school.
