Hi! I’m a junior in high school and am searching colleges right now but am completely lost. I’ve used some college search engines like supermatch but still don’t know where to look at since there are just so many colleges! I am a first-generation too so my parents are not very knowledgeable about the college system in the U.S. so I cannot gain much help from them in my college selection process, so I was wondering if anyone could help me out a bit. Can anyone help me select some colleges that I should be looking into? Thank you.
Some information about myself:
-California resident
-Asian background but U.S. born; first generation
-GPA: 3.8 uw, 4.08 w (according to UC standards)
-ECs: violin for almost 9 years (I have made the district’s honors orchestra 5 times but other than that, not very competitive playing) and volunteer work (not an impressive amount compared to some people here though; around 30 hrs./yr??)
-major: undecided; maybe business, economics, or finance? also interested in international relations and Chinese
-SAT: 2140 (CR- 720, M- 750, W-670)
-looking at colleges preferably in the west coast but still very open to other areas
-smaller-sized colleges with a small student: faculty ratio preferred as well, but still open to larger-sized schools as well
-interested in being part of the school orchestra at college too
Thanks for reading this far! It will be great if anyone could help. (Sorry if I’m being too picky!)
