Help with Electives

Are 200 series electives significantly more challenging? Specifically in psych or anthro. I had emailed to change the level of my math course, and the lady replied also advising me to consider a different elective than PSY 238. Somehow I was put into Health PSY 268..sounds interesting but received comments like "bane of my existance" on ratemyprofs.

Are you a freshman? I would stay away from 200 level electives, at least if only for the first semester. The difficulty level really depends on the teacher and the material being taught. I would DEFINITELy stay away from a teacher who has a lot of negative comments on ratemyprof, because even while the class might seem interesting…if you have a bad teacher it ruins it all. You can always wait for a different teacher to teach the course during a diff semester. For my fresh year I took psy 101 , and even that was challenging given my TERRIBLE eacher (gautier), who I took after going aganist all the negative reviews I saw on ratemyprof. My 2nd semester I took accounting, which was very easy, but then again I am not a FNEC minor. It is difficult to find easy classes at vandy!

Thanks so much nicole. Yeah, I’m a freshman. Do you think there would be a disadvantage to taking higher psych classes w/o PSY 101 first? Not sure how much the material overlaps. I did take AP Psych 2 years ago, but don’t remember too much.
